Prague City Tourism on the Tragedy at Charles University

22 December 2023 – City of Prague is deeply saddened by the tragic event at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. Our heartfelt sympathies go to families of the victims, and wishes of a speedy recovery to the injured.

On the day of national mourning tomorrow, bells of Prague towers and churches will ring as well as those around the country to honour the memory of the victims.

The yesterday’s tragedy was the deadliest attack in our modern history as Prague is one of world’s safest capitals both for locals and for visitors. We have suspended all and any marketing campaigns to honour the deceased. Prague historical sights remain open for the public.
