Among the hotels participating in the At Home in Prague project, 56 are part of the “Stay Safe” initiative

1 July 2021 Prague – the At Home in Prague programme, (aka Prague Unlocked), which starts today and provides visitors with various benefits when visiting the metropolis, has joined the “Stay Safe” initiative of the Czech Association of Hotels and Restaurants. The initiative aims to ensure exceptional hygiene standards and thus the safety of guests and employees of hotels, not only in Prague. Right now, more than 250 Prague accommodation facilities have already joined the At Home in Prague project and 56 of them bear the “Stay Safe” seal of approval. Other hotels are progressively joining.

The “Stay Safe” project was initiated by the Czech Association of Hotels and Restaurants last year, in response to the increased focus on protecting the health of tourists and hospitality workers brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic situation. The aim of the initiative is to make guests’ visits to hotels and restaurants in and beyond Prague safer, and evidently so.

‘I very much welcome this activity by the Czech Association of Hotels and Restaurants, which makes tourists more inclined to visit our metropolis. We want Prague to be one of the safe cities, not least regarding the pandemic, and compliance with Stay Safe standards can further contribute to this aim,’ says Hana Třeštíková, Prague Councillor for Culture and Tourism.

Hotels and restaurants guarantee compliance with ‘ten commandments’ of safe operation, which, in addition to the use of face masks, disinfectants and observance of safe distances include such things as rules for storing food, washing dishes or handling laundry. As would be expected, standards of prevention and procedures in case of suspected illness or proven occurrence of the disease in the accommodation facility are also covered. The project also focuses on regular staff training.

‘First of all, we are very happy to work together to boost the At Home in Prague project, which aims to revive the interest of domestic and foreign tourists in our capital. Safety has always been one of the priorities for tourists and Prague has long been a very safe destination. With this in mind, we’ve put together a programme that reflects the current tourism issues and guarantees each customer that our services are truly safe and give maximum attention to hygiene,’ says Václav Stárek, President of the Czech Association of Hotels and Restaurants, who goes on to say that guests will be made aware of the programme through the Stay Safe branding that participating hotels can show on their website and in online communication with customers.

‘We are aware that the pandemic situation remains sensitive and accordingly do appreciate that numerous hotels involved in the At Home in Prague programme meet the conditions of the “Stay Safe” project. This means that visitors need not worry about coming to our metropolis and enjoy the benefits we have prepared for them as part of this summer’s programme,’ concludes Jana Adamcová, Member of the Board of Directors of Prague City Tourism.
