Thanks to the new Prague Visitor Pass, Prague will also be attracting tourists to other parts of the city

Prague, 1 June 2022 – the first phase of the Prague Visitor Pass starts running this June. According to representatives of Prague City Tourism and the ICT Operator involved in its development, visiting Prague will now be much easier, especially for tourists from abroad. In addition to the main tourist attractions, the card currently offers a wide range of participating places beyond the long-congested city centre. The Prague Visitor Pass also reflects the city’s new approach to tourism, seeking to revive it after the pandemic in sustainable form.

In the first phase of full operation, tourists can use the card at 57 acceptance points, such as the Prague Zoological Garden, the Vyšehrad National Cultural Monument or the Prague Planetarium, as well as for guide services or sightseeing cruises on the Vltava river. Naturally, the iconic tourist sites such as the Petřín Lookout Tower, the Old Town Hall or Prague Castle are also included.

“Prague is not just Charles Bridge and Prague Castle. We look forward to the return of tourists, and through the Prague Visitor Pass wish to offer them fresh experiences and interesting places around the metropolis, places to enjoy the local atmosphere without crowds,” says Hana Třeštíková, Councillor for Culture and Tourism.

The city, together with Prague City Tourism and the ICT Operator, is launching the card at a time when tourists are once again returning to the metropolis. Experts agree that this year the metropolis will see 50-60% of the attendance of 2019, when Prague welcomed 8 million tourists. The card will allow them to move more easily around the city and also get a better grasp of Prague public transport options and fares, which are also featured.

“The card can be purchased from today, but is in its first phase of full operation. From July onward, other places of tourist interest will join in, and from September we will be promoting the card with a marketing drive,” says František Cipro, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prague City Tourism.

“In cooperation with Prague City Tourism and the Department of Culture and Tourism of Prague City Hall we have created a comprehensive Prague Visitor Pass system. It is designed with further development in mind, adding functionalities as needed,” adds OICT CEO Tomáš Barczi.

The Prague Visitor Pass offers several possible options, from 48 hours validity to a premium option valid for up to 120 hours, which offers the holder the opportunity to explore the metropolis and its interesting places much more thoroughly. It includes transport around the city and a selection of acceptance points. The pricing takes into account both children and students.
