Prague is preparing for the Christmas tourist season. This year with restrictions once again

25 November 2021 – From Sunday anyone interested can visit the Christmas Markets on the Old Town Square, this year once again in restricted mode and under strict hygienic conditions. Taking part in the Christmas markets, Prague City Tourism will also be putting out its market stall. On it will be, among other things, a limited Christmas edition of classy souvenirs. The organization has also launched the winter part of their digital marketing campaign for international visitors. To date, the autumn campaign has seen most tourist response from Germany, Austria, Italy and the Benelux countries.

More and more domestic tourists are coming to Prague

9 November 2021, Prague - The capital welcomed 41.7% more visitors in the third quarter of this year (July–September), than in the same period last year. Nevertheless, this is still about 53% below 2019. According to data from the Czech Statistical Office (CSO), a total of 1,063,788 guests visited the metropolis, of which 41.4% were domestic tourists. The progressive rise in visitor numbers is welcomed by the city, with the hope of further improvement and more tourists from non-European countries visiting Prague in due course.

Prague City Tourism and partners are launching a new campaign. The capital wants to attract a more upmarket clientele

11 October 2021, Prague - The digital marketing campaign of Prague City Tourism and partners is primarily aimed at selected European markets. The aim is to raise the standing of Prague, as a city for a more discerning clientele. The organization is confident that its comprehensive campaign strategy will attract a more upmarket visitor clientele than has been the case in the past. The campaign will run until the end of the year. City Hall has endorsed a budget of 40 million CZK.

Prague has introduced a new visual identity in the field of tourism

5 October 2021, Prague — Prague City Tourism presented their new visual style at this year’s Designblok, through which to present Prague to visitors from home and abroad. The new visual identity is part of the capital’s cultured tourism project. This is notably reflected in the new form of souvenirs, visual elements, but also in the very essence of the brand’s presentation. Its hallmark is authenticity, representing the metropolis through the people who live in it.

Tram line 42 will be running in Prague throughout the year

3 September 2021, Prague - Tram line number 42, which was piloted by Prague City Tourism as part of the ‘At Home in Prague’ initiative will continue to run in the capital beyond the end of the programme. The tram route covers Prague’s popular heritage sites. In addition, those interested will get the relevant tourist and historical information from staff aboard the tram.

130 years ago, Petřín Lookout Tower first opened to the public

19 August, Prague – Petřín Hill will be celebrating this anniversary of the opening of the Petřín Tower, from Friday to Sunday. Prague City Tourism, the organization which has this Prague landmark in its care, has prepared an accompanying programme for visitors to mark the anniversary. In addition, as part of such an auspicious jubilee, the organization has had the Lookout Tower remeasured, to see just exactly how high it is now, after numerous changes. Geodetic measurements have shown that the Lookout Tower is nearly five metres shorter than its originally stated height of 63.5 metres.

Introducing our capital’s new souvenirs: A limited edition set of crystal glasses, and a comic book of stories about art on the underground

Prague, 16 August 2021 – Prague City Tourism, the official destination organization of the Capital City of Prague is this week launching a completely new portfolio of souvenirs that showcase Prague as a cultural and sustainable city. The company has turned to some renowned Prague artists to make it happen. The respective artists have created the products exclusively for Prague City Tourism, in many cases as limited editions. City Hall is working together with the organization on implementing a new strategy, prioritizing innovative and upmarket tourism. Souvenirs can be purchased through the e-shop or at the Petřín Tower, which is a pilot point of sale.

Tourism in Prague is slowly drawing new breath

There was a slight uptick in the Prague tourist industry for the second quarter of this year (April to June). Much like Q2 of last year, Prague welcomed primarily Czech tourists and visitors from neighboring countries. According to the Czech Statistical Office, a total of 252,427 guests traveled to Prague.

Among the hotels participating in the At Home in Prague project, 56 are part of the “Stay Safe” initiative

1 July 2021 Prague – the At Home in Prague programme, (aka Prague Unlocked), which starts today and provides visitors with various benefits when visiting the metropolis, has joined the “Stay Safe” initiative of the Czech Association of Hotels and Restaurants. The initiative aims to ensure exceptional hygiene standards and thus the safety of guests and employees of hotels, not only in Prague. Right now, more than 250 Prague accommodation facilities have already joined the At Home in Prague project and 56 of them bear the “Stay Safe” seal of approval. Other hotels are progressively joining.

New Visitor Information Centre opening on Petřín Hill today

15 June 2021, Prague – Petřín Tower, one of Prague’s most visited landmarks is getting a new Information Centre from today. Visitors will get all the tourist information they need and find out numerous points of interest about the lookout tower and Petřín Hill. Guided walks can also be booked here. The info booth is just inside the lookout tower.
